EU Institute’s head mocks Al-Azhar sheikh’s lament over refugees of Ukraine,

SANAA, Mar. 06 (YPA) – Head of the European Institute of Law and International Relations, Mahmoud Refaat, mocked on Sunday the lament made by an Al-Azhar sheikh, Ahmed el-Tayeb, over the refugees of Ukraine.

Refaat wrote on Twitter that el-Tayeb lamented over the refugees of Ukraine and has not opened his mouth for more than 7 years of war on Yemen, which left the worst humanitarian disaster on the planet.

He considered that the Saudi and Emirati money made the sheikhs of Al-Azhar a mockery, describing him as “sheikh of shame.”

Refaat cited the speech of the American actress and UN goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie, who is visiting Yemen and calling for granting all refugees equal treatment and rights.

They addressed Al-Tayeb that the Saudi-led coalition has torn Yemeni women and children alike, leaving the greatest human tragedy, and we did not hear any condemnation by sheikhs of Al-Azhar, accusing Al-Tayeb of supporting the killers and a guilty partner as well.

This comes after tweets made by Al-Tayeb who published on Twitter, calling on the international community to increase aid to Ukraine and help end the war, noting: “We see Ukrainian civilians leaving their homes in search of security, and this is a real test of our humanity.”
