STC flags taken down from its most prominent camps in Shabwa

SHABWA, Feb. 17 (YPA) – Disagreements escalated on Thursday between the allies of the UAE in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, leading to the removal of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s flags from one of its camps in the province.

Tribal sources reported that elements affiliated with Tariq Afash forces, the leader of the pro-UAE factions on the western coast of Yemen, had dropped the STC flags from Al-Alam camp, east of Shabwa, which is currently being rehabilitated in the name of the “Republican Guard.”

The source pointed out that the downing of the STC flags took place under the directives of the new commander of the camp.

This comes hours after the camp was emptied of the so-called “Shabwa Defense Forces”, in which those affiliated with the STC participated, and were transferred to Ain district on the fighting fronts west of Shabwa.

In this context, STC’s chief in Shabwa, Ali al-Jabwani, revealed a new scheme targeting the remaining southern elements in Shabwa, by enticing them to fight in the north.
