SANAA, Feb. 16 (YPA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein Al-Ezzi met on Wednesday with the new resident representative of the World Food Program (WFP) in Yemen, Richard Ragan.
In the meeting, the Deputy Foreign Minister welcomed the WFP representative, stressing the importance of strengthening the humanitarian efforts of the program in accordance with the principles and standards of humanitarian work.
Al-Ezzi expressed readiness to provide facilities for the success of the program work and its cadres, in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people in light the humanitarian catastrophe that he is going through, the worst in the modern era, as a result of the continuation of the aggression and siege for nearly seven years, in flagrant violation of international and humanitarian laws.
He pointed out the full commitment to joint work to overcome any obstacles that may arise, in a way that enhances serious cooperation to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
In turn, the WFP representative affirmed the adoption of transparency as a main principle in humanitarian work, noting the consistent position of the United Nations and its keenness to exert more humanitarian efforts in Yemen in light of the current conditions.
