Al-Hamali: Reducing aid exacerbates humanitarian situation in Yemen

SANAA, Feb. 12 (YPA) – The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Al-Hamali, on Saturday said that reducing the aid announced by the World Food Program (WFP) would increase the suffering of the Yemeni people and exacerbate the humanitarian situation.

During his meeting in Sanaa with the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, William David Grisley, Al-Hamali pointed out that the Council has provided and will provide all facilities to move forward in implementing the tasks of humanitarian work to mitigate the repercussions of the humanitarian tragedy resulting from the siege and aggression.

He stressed the need to strengthen the positive roles of UN and international organizations to pressure the release of fuel ships, lift the siege, and stop the aggression on the Yemeni people to be able to rise without the need to collect humanitarian funds that do not meet their urgent needs.

For his part, Grisley valued the council’s efforts in coordinating and facilitating the work of humanitarian organizations operating in Yemen.
