Russian Foreign Ministry: We will not tolerate the double-stance of the west

MOSCOW, Feb. 07 (YPA) – Vladimir Yermakov, Director of the Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday that instead of fearing the virtual threat of Russian nuclear weapons being deployed in Belarus, the West should consider the real danger of deploying US nuclear weapons in Europe.

“I would like to ask a question,  whether our European colleagues do not see a threat to their security not from Belarus?, but in the actual deployment of US nuclear weapons on the territory of a number of NATO countries capable of striking targets in Russia,” Yermakov told the media.

Yermakov said the participation of non-nuclear European countries in NATO’s “joint nuclear missions” “directly contradicts its core obligations under the NPT.”

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry described US statements on changing the Belarusian constitution that could lead to the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons there as speculation.
