SANAA, Jan. 27 (YPA) – The Uk is considering deploying troops in Eastern Europe ahead of what it claims is a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Telegraph newspaper reported on Wednesday, citing sources.
Government sources confirmed that “very advanced discussions” are under way after reports emerged from Washington that the US, UK and a handful of NATO allies are in talks about bolstering their military presence on the coalition’s eastern flank, The Telegraph said.
It is thought that a public announcement on new deployments from a smaller grouping of partners within the alliance could come as soon as Thursday, the report said.
Earlier, US media said the Washington was discussing with some allies the possibility of deploying thousands of additional troops to NATO’s Eastern European countries, as a show of support against Russia.
Among the countries considering accepting deployments are Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary, three US officials familiar with the discussions told CNN.
