SANAA, Jan. 25 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, met on Tuesday with the head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) Major General, Michael Beary.
The minister pointed to the importance of commitment to the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement, as the Saudi-led coalition countries and their allies are still targeting civilians in Hodeida province.
Sharaf stressed the need for carrying out confidence-building measures, which are considering as a necessary step to enter into any future political settlement process.
He affirmed that any efforts towards achieving peace should include neutralize the economic process, stop the manipulation of the national currency, and ensure the entry of oil and food derivatives ships through the Hodeida port, as well as the payment of salaries of state employees, and the reopening of Sanaa International Airport.
Sharaf pointed to the keenness of the Sanaa authorities to provide facilities and support to the UN team in Hodeida and to continue coordination and consultation between the two sides.
For his part, Beary affirmed that his mission would continue to achieve the desired goals of the presence of the mission in Hodeida.
