UN appoints new head of UNMHA in Yemen

SANAA, Dec. 25 (YPA) – The United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, has appointed the Irish Major General Michael Beary as head of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeida Agreement (UNMHA) in Yemen.

Berry, who has also been appointed chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC), succeeds retired Indian General Abhijit Guha.

The UNMHA was formed to monitor the ceasefire in the province, according to the UN-sponsored Stockholm Agreement signed at the end of 2018 in Sweden.
