SHABWA, Dec. 23 (YPA) – UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia called for the so-called Shabwana uprising to move against the authorities of the Islah party in all Shabwa province’s districts.
Activists on social media loyal to the STC explained that the Shabwana uprising comes to curb the exploitation of the province’s oil wealth by the leaders of the Islah, following Saudi Arabia’s summoning of the Hadi governor Bin Adio to Riyadh earlier this week.
The popular uprising in Shabwa followed the call made by the STC two weeks ago to its tribes in Hadramout, whose gunmen prevented the passage of oil tankers to the rest of the provinces.
On Wednesday, the National Assembly advisor to the STC, Omar Baabad, threatened to close the oil export pipelines and target oil ships presented in Dhaba port in Hadramout.
Saudi Arabia is pressing for the overthrow of the Islah governor in Shabwa, bin Adio , similar to the handover of Socotra to the STC militia in June 2019.
