Iranian official: IAEA cameras in Karaj facility were destroyed by an Israeli act of sabotage

TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (YPA) – Iran’s ambassador to Britain, Mohsen Beharvand, said that surveillance cameras at the Iranian facility of Karaj were destroyed by an Israeli act of sabotage last June.

“There was sabotage by Israel, some cameras were damaged, and some investigations are ongoing,” the ambassador was quoted by Bloomberg as saying, adding that Iranian investigators looked into whether the cameras were used to aid in the sabotage.

He added: “We have just asked the International Atomic Energy Agency to wait for this investigation to be completed.”

And “Bloomberg” indicated that the ambassador’s statements may explain Iran’s continued prevention of International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors from reinstalling the cameras at the centrifuge workshop in Karaj.

It is noteworthy that the Hebrew newspaper “Jerusalem Post” reported last July that the targeted building near the city of Karaj was a factory for the production of centrifuges, and added that it had received “strong indications” confirming that the attack had severely damaged the target site.
