Coalition forces continue escalate militarily in Marib, Shabwa

MARIB, Dec. 01 (YPA) – The Saudi-led coalition forces have continued to escalate their military operations in an attempt to achieve a field progress against the Sanaa government forces in the fronts of Marib and Shabwa provinces.

According local sources, that the Sanaa forces fought during the past hours, fierce battles against the coalition forces backed al-Qaeda elements, managing to thwart the attempt of a large advance of the coalition forces towards the “Al-Saq” area of Shabwa and eastern area of Harib in Marib.

The sources affirmed that the Sanaa forces carried out a tight ambush against the coalition forces in “Al-Jabjab” area, after the coalition’s attempts to advance from its positions in Usaylan towards “Al-Saq” front, in an effort to separate Bayhan district of Shabwa from Harib district of Marib.

The sources said that the Sanaa forces repelled also the advance of the coalition forces from their positions in Safer area of Marib towards the east of Harib district, which the coalition managed to escape after being suffered great losses during the failed advance.

More than 10 coalition militants were killed, including 3 military commanders, in addition to the destruction of 6 military and armored vehicles during the operation, the sources added.
