US Air Force Commander in the Middle East: our forces will stay in the region

SANAA, Nov. 13 (YPA) – Lt. Gen. Gregory M. Guillot, commander of 9th Air Force (Air Forces Central) said US pilots would continue to be stationed in the region, despite what military planners see as the biggest challenge for Washington in the coming period.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Dubai international air show scheduled to be held on Sunday, he acknowledged that the presence in the region “may change” after the US exit from Afghanistan.

According to ABC News,  “The cooperative defense of many countries in the region will serve as our guide to monitoring any attacks that occur, and will enable us to stand one step away from the threat as it develops,” he said.

Guillot expressed the hope that his country’s allies and partners would use equipment that would be “operationally compatible” with the US military.
