Ataq military axis in Shabwa declares defection

SHABWA, Oct. 23 (YPA) – A senior officer of Ataq axis loyal the Saudi-exiled Hadi government in Shabwa province announced his defection from Islah Party forces.

According to sources, the officer, Ahmed Ali Al-Awlaki, joined “Shabwani Elite” funded by the UAE in Shabwa.

Activists on social media circulated a video of Al-Awlaki announcing his joining the Shabwani Elite forces.

Al-Awlaki attributed the reasons for his defection from the Islah axis in Ataq city, due to selfishness of the Islah leaders, indicating that the leaders are seeking to achieve their personal interests.

He called on the sons of the southern province to leave the Islah camps in Shabwa and join the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council militias.
