Iran says it will not tolerate presence of Zionist entity near its borders

TEHRAN, Sept. 28 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh on Tuesday expressed his surprise at the recent statements of Azerbaijani President, stressing that his country will not bear the Zionist entity’s presence near its borders.

In a statement he made to reporters Tuesday about the recent statements of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Khatibzadeh said: “Making statements in this manner is surprising given the existence of good and respectful relations between the two countries and the normal paths of relations between the two parties exist at the highest levels.”

He added that serious and meticulous consultations took place during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries on the sidelines of the last meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and it was agreed to continue these talks on an appropriate ground.

Khatibzadeh explained that Iran has always declared its opposition to any occupation of lands and stressed the need to respect the territorial integrity of states and recognized international borders.

On the maneuvers that Iran conducted in the northwest regions of the country, he said: “This is a sovereign issue and is taking place for the sake of the stability and security of the entire region.”

He continued, “Of course, it is clear that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not tolerate the presence of the Zionist entity, even if it is for the show, near its borders, and it will implement any measure it deems necessary for its national security.”

It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani president said in his recent statements regarding the Iranian maneuvers: “The question is, why now and why are such maneuvers running on our borders,” as he put it.
