SANAA, Sept. 12 (YPA) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, heading a large government delegation, headed on Sunday to Iran on an official visit at the invitation of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.
Al-Kazemi said in a statement before departure, according to a statement by his office, that “the visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, open up prospects for cooperation in various fields, and focus on the depth of the relationship between the two friendly countries.”
Al-Kazemi added that “Iraq has succeeded in playing a pivotal role in the region by strengthening the strategic partnership in accordance with the principles of supporting stability, cooperation, and friendship; In order to establish the foundations of peace and prosperity.”
The statement indicated that Al-Kazemi will meet during the visit with a number of Iranian leaders, and that the visit will witness “discussing files of common interest, and consolidating efforts to spread sustainable development… as well as discussing bilateral coordination regarding positions on regional and international issues, and strengthening the region’s security and stability.”
After Raisi was elected to the Iranian presidency last June, Al-Kazemi described the relationship with him as “very good”, and expressed his keenness to protect relations with Iran and work to develop them, noting that Raisi invited him to visit Tehran.
