Parliament listens to health minister’s clarification on health situation

SANAA, Sept. 06 (YPA) – The House of Representatives listened on Monday to clarifications provided by the Minister of Health Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakil, about the health situation in Yemen and efforts to combat epidemics.

In a session, chaired by Parliament Speaker Yahya Al-Rah’i, the minister considered the parliament’s call to attend as an opportunity to discuss the difficulties and obstacles facing the medical and health sectors.

“The health situation in Yemen is good in light of the continued aggression and siege, thanks to the efforts of workers in the medical and health sectors, despite targeting medical and health facilities by the Saudi-led coalition countries,” Al-Mutawakil said.

He added, “Although the medical and health facilities are red points in all countries of the world, the US-backed Saudi aggression coalition deliberately targeted 500 hospitals and health centers, including centers belonging to Doctors Without Borders in Abs area of Hajjah and Haydan district of Saada.”

The Minister pointed to the catastrophic effects made as a result of the aggression’s targeting of infrastructure, water and sanitation, which have led to the spread of many epidemics and diseases, including 26 diseases, Corona and other epidemics, which the ministry is monitoring to eradicate.

He affirmed that handling of the ministry was the scale and level of the Corona epidemic, despite the confusion of the countries of the world in dealing with the pandemic.
