SANAA, Aug. 31 (YPA) – The Polish government has asked the country’s president to declare a state of emergency in two regions on the border with Belarus, after hundreds of illegal immigrants crossed the border into its territory this month.
The government asked President Andrzej Duda to impose a state of emergency for 30 days in areas of the Podlaskie and Lubelski regions.
This will be the first time that Poland imposes a state of emergency on its soil since the fall of the communist regime.
Poland began fencing the borders with barbed wire to prevent the flow of migrants from countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan through Belarus.
