SANAA, Aug. 31 (YPA) – A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the Kermadec Islands region near New Zealand, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said on Tuesday.
The quake had a depth of 40 km (24.85 miles), USGS added.
The US Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning after the earthquake.
The last earthquake to hit New Zealand’s Kermadec Islands earlier this month measured 5.6 on the Richter scale.
