LAHJ, Aug. 29 (YPA) – Unknown gunmen launched an attack on Sunday targeting a training area at al-Anad military base the largest military base in Lahj, southern Yemen, Yemen News Portal reported.
The base is being used by the Saudi-led coalition forces.
Activists on social media circulated pictures of dozens of dead and wounded being taken to hospitals outside the base.
There are conflicting reports about the attack whether it was carried out by drones or by rockets shelling.
The attack comes at a time when the province near the Bab al-Mandab Strait is experiencing tension between the parties to the conflict within the Hadi puppet government
The Islah party, Yemeni branch of Muslim Brotherhood, is pushing for the separation of coastal directorates in Sabiha and to provide a supply line for its forces in Taiz countryside while the The STC militia backed by Hadi governor, seeks to strengthen its grip on the province ahead of arrangements to appoint a new governor there.
No group has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
