SANAA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) expects moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunder at times, in most provinces during the next 24 hours.
The center stated in its weather bulletin that moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by thunder at times, is likely to fall on separate areas of the western mountainous highlands, especially in parts of the provinces of Taiz, Ibb, Dhale’, Dhamar, Mahwit, Raymah and Hajjah.
The center pointed out that the rains will extend eastward to parts of the interior hills of the provinces of Abyan, Shabwa and Hadramout and west to the western coasts and the adjacent interior areas.
The center reported light to medium rain on parts of the southern and eastern coasts, with the southwest monsoon winds blowing very fast on the Socotra archipelago.
The center called on citizens in areas where rain is expected to not be in the valleys and flood lanes during and after the rain, warning drivers of vehicles in bends and mountain slopes of reduced visibility as a result of rain or the formation of water mist or fog.
The centre also warned the captains of ships, fishermen and sea-goers in the Socotra archipelago of strong winds and sea turbulence.
The center clarified that the amount of rain that fell during the past 24 hours in some meteorological stations amounted to: 39.8, Ibb: 3.5, Al-Sada: 1.1, Hajjah: 1, Al-Mahra (Sarfeet): 0.8
Scattered rain also fell on parts of the mountainous province and parts of the internal plateaus that were outside the scope of the meteorological stations.
