SANAA, Aug. 25 (YPA) – China lifted health restrictions on Wednesday imposed on one of the largest ports in the world, partially suspended since August, after the emergence of the “Covid-19” focus, which negatively affected logistics.
Ningbo Zhoushan, 250 kilometers south of Shanghai, is one of China’s major shipping ports.
Last year, 1.2 billion tons of goods passed through this port, which is the third in the world in terms of exports.
The discovery of a Covid-19 infection in the ranks of one of the port workers led to the closure of the Mechane Fee terminal, which is capable of accommodating ten million containers.
The public television “CCTV”, citing a note issued by the local authorities, stated that the health restrictions imposed on the Mishan station in the port will be lifted on Wednesday, and that the activity will resume “gradually.”
The station will return to full capacity on the first of September, according to the memorandum.
About 2,000 wage earners have been asked to isolate themselves, while global supply networks are already strained.
The maritime transport sector is subject to strong pressures in recent months at the global level due to health restrictions and the re-launch of the economic wheel, which increased the demand for goods.
In May, the temporary closure of the port of Yatiantian in southern China due to the Corona virus led to a delay of weeks in the export of goods.
