SANAA, Aug. 25 (YPA) – The Supreme Economic Committee in Sanaa affirmed its readiness to work immediately with UNICEF or others, on everything that leads to the neutralization of the economic situation, foremost of which is the payment of the salaries of state employees.
The move came in a statement by the committee following the Security Council session, which was devoted to discussing the economic situation in Yemen.
In a statement, the committee called for the speedy implementation of the UN recommendations related to lifting the restrictions imposed on the ports of Hodeidah and lifting the ban imposed on Sana’a airport.
The statement indicated that the neutralization of the economy is a principle emphasized by the Economic Committee repeatedly, and called for by the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, and President Mahdi al-Mashat.
The US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries, however, continue to use the economy as a card of war, and deliberately looting oil revenues and gas.
They also cut the salaries of state employees, creating an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in the world. It also is tightening the suffocating siege on the Yemeni people, imposing deadly measures aimed at the collapse of the currency and the rise in prices of goods and services.
The committee renewed its call for the United Nations to assume its responsibilities towards the Yemeni people, and to deal with the economic issue with some required seriousness.
It also called for obligating the coalition of aggression to lift the siege completely, to stop using the economy as a means of pressure and bargaining, and to separate the humanitarian situation from the political and military discussion.
