SANAA, Aug. 25 (YPA)- White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the United States has evacuated 58.7,000 people from Afghanistan.
“I would like to point out that we have evacuated 58,700 people in the past 9 days,” Psaki said during a briefing.
On August 15, the Taliban took control of the Afghan capital, Kabul, with little resistance, while the northeastern province of Panjshir remained the only state outside its control.
The Taliban movement has confirmed that they consider August 31 as the deadline for the full withdrawal of all US forces from Afghanistan, stating that they consider any extension of the timetable related to their stay in Afghanistan as an extension of the US occupation.
Earlier Tuesday, the White House said US President Joe Biden told G7 leaders that the United States was on track to complete the US withdrawal from Afghanistan by August 31 and that it depended on Taliban cooperation.
