SANAA, Aug. 23 (YPA) -The United Kingdom will step up the evacuation of its nationals as well as Afghan nationals from Afghanistan on Monday, British media reported on Sunday, under a plan to move up to 6,000 people out of the country this week.
According to The Times Newspapers, the army extended the deadline for the last RAF evacuation flight from Tuesday to Friday or Saturday.
The British Ministry of Defence said Sunday that Britain has evacuated more than 5,700 people from Afghanistan since August 13.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called on G7 leaders to hold urgent talks next Tuesday to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, stressing the importance of international solidarity to ensure safe evacuations from there.
Sources told Reuters that Britain is seeking to push world leaders to discuss new sanctions against the Taliban at the group of seven (G7) meeting on Tuesday to discuss the crisis in Afghanistan.
