Heavy rain with thunderstorms expected with coming hours: NCM

SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has expected heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, over most areas of Yemen within the coming hours.

In its weather bulletin on Thursday, the center stated that moderate rains accompanied by thunderstorms are expected in separate areas of the southwestern highlands in the provinces of Ibb, Taiz and Dhalea.

According to the center, the rain may extend west to the coasts of Taiz province and the southern coasts of Hudaidah province.

 

The center indicated the possibility of scattered moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms on the heights of the provinces of Shabwa, Abyan and Lahj, and separate areas of the provinces of Raymah and Mahwit, and on parts of the western districts of the provinces of Amran, Sanaa and Dhamar.

The center reported the continuation of the activity of the southwest monsoon winds on the Socotra archipelago.

The center urged citizens not to be in the streams of torrents and valleys in order to preserve their safety and the safety of their property.

The center warned drivers on mountain slopes where rain is expected to reduce the horizontal visibility due to the rain.

The center also warned sea-goers, fishermen and ship captains in the Socotra archipelago of sea turbulence and high waves due to strong winds.

The center pointed out that scattered rain of varying intensity fell on Wednesday, on parts of the mountainous heights and the interior plateaus outside the scope of the monitoring stations.
