SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – Saudi authorities on Thursday doubled the suffering of thousands of Yemeni families living on their territory after abruptly closing the only al-Wadea border crossing with Yemen as they prepared to return to their residence.
Activists posted on social media pictures of hundreds of vehicles and thousands of families stranded in a desert area between the border port of Wadea.
The families have been facing a tragic situation for three days as more residents wanting to return to their workplaces continue to flock to Saudi Arabia, the sources said.
The Saudi authorities did not comment on the reasons for the sudden closure of the port, but in terms of timing, it indicates that the step is part of a strategy that Saudi Arabia has been implementing for weeks, namely, the expulsion of as many Yemeni expatriates from its territory.
It also a part of plans related to the war and siege it has been waging against the impoverished country for seven years and trying to keep it under its guardianship or starve it.
