White House: About 1,100 Americans evacuated from Afghanistan on Tuesday

SANAA, Aug. 18 (YPA) – The US military on Tuesday evacuated about 1,100 Americans, permanent residents of the United States and their families from Afghanistan, a White House official said.

“Now that we have settled on the pace, we expect these figures to increase,” the official said in a statement.

The Taliban captured the country on Sunday and declared the “end of the war” in Afghanistan, while President Ashraf Ghani left Afghan territory.
