MOSCOW, Aug. 12 (YPA) – A helicopter carrying tourists on Russia’s easternmost Kamchatka peninsula crashed, the Russian Emergency Ministry said Thursday.
The Russian Emergency Ministry confirmed that the Mi-8 helicopter had 13 tourists on board, along with three crew members.
It noted that a Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Russian Ministry of Emergency was being equipped with rescuers to reach the scene.
The Ministry revealed that staff of the Kronotsky Nature Reserve quickly drove by boat to rescue the helicopter’s passengers.
At least eight of the 16 people on board the helicopter survived, the ministry confirmed .
