Chad’s president renews commitment to organize presidential, parliamentary elections

SANAA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Chad’s transitional military council chairman Mohamed Idriss Deby on Tuesday renewed his commitment to the country’s roadmap for free and democratic presidential and legislative elections.

“We must invest what has been achieved in consolidating the achievements of independence, freedom and democracy,” he said in a speech marking the 61st anniversary of independence.

The Transitional Government was working hard to respect the commitments of the Transitional Military Council was recently adopted a road map in the cabinet.

He indicated that a national dialogue will be organized and will lead to free, democratic and transparent presidential and legislative elections.

“I strongly urge the transitional government to ensure the strict and prompt implementation of the measures included in the road map, as time does not help us and every possible diligence must be developed with the participation of all,” he said.
