Lavrov: West paves way to raise doubts about the outcomes of parliamentary elections in Russia

MOSCOW, Aug. 10 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that Moscow is not in a state of neglect to prepare Western countries to try to raise doubts about the results of future elections to Russia’s State Duma.

“Our internal affairs, especially as the election approaches, are receiving great attention from foreign countries, primarily by our Western partners,” Lavrov said in a speech at the opening of the social support center of the ruling United Russia party in Moscow on Monday.

They are trying to exploit international organizations to disrupt elections by all available means, he explained, adding that they have used the OSCE to take unacceptable steps that are blatantly contrary to the duties of the secretariat and office in charge of issues relating to democracy and human rights.”

“We know that additional steps are being prepared, including some trying to raise doubts about the outcome of our elections. We are following these activities and we will draw certain conclusions and take appropriate measures.”
