Saudi Arabia’s intervention, attempt to guardianship in Yemeni affairs has passed: FM
SANAA, Aug. 70 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, affirmed on Saturday that the time of Saudi Arabia’s intervention, its requirements and the attempt to guardianship in Yemeni affairs has passed.
Sharaf said the peace that Sanaa is working to achieve is a real and sustainable peace for Yemen and its people, within a Yemeni sovereign framework that culminates in the exit of foreign forces and preserves Yemen’s independence and sovereignty over its entire territory.
This came in the response to the statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, who stipulated the new UN envoy implementing what called the Saudi Peace Initiative in Yemen and the three references as a basic solution to achieve peace in Yemen.
Sharaf added, “The Saudi foreign minister should not rush to try to show a position of the strength with the start of the new UN envoy’s mission and be aware that peace in Yemen is for the Yemeni people and the authority of the national state imposing order and law and achieving justice and prosperity for the Yemeni people, in additional to working for alleviating the suffering of Yemenis who have been subjected to aggression for 7 years, and not the peace that Saudi Arabia wants to impose or stipulate for continuing to play the role of guardianship and hegemony.”
Sharaf stressed the need for the Saudi leadership to realize that the future bilateral relations between the Republic of Yemen and Saudi Arabia can be reconstructed on the basis of good neighborliness, mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs, which will lead to good relations and joint cooperation, as well as achieving security and stability between the two brotherly countries.
