SANAA, Aug. 3 (YPA) – Iraqi security forces on Tuesday toppled a large “terrorist” network considered responsible for the recent bombing that hit Sadr City, east of Baghdad.
The Iraqi Ministry of Interior states in a press statement: “After we overthrew a large terrorist network in Kirkuk Governorate, who were responsible for Al-Wahilat market bombings in Sadr City, we succeeded in setting up a second terrorist cell in Anbar, which was intending to carry out attacks in crowded and public places to target innocent and safe people during the last Eid al-Adha.”
The ministry added, “Initial investigations revealed that the cell members carried out terrorist operations to target army and Popular Mobilization patrols in 2018 with explosive devices, and their attempts to carry out major attacks during the days of Eid al-Adha, in what is known as the (Eid Battle).
