About 89 Takfiri elements killed in military operations in Sinai

SANAA, Aug. 01 (YPA) – About 89 Takfiri elements have been killed in military operations carried out by the Egyptian army in areas n North Sinai, according the General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ statement on Sunday.

The statement said the operations came in within the framework of the continuous efforts carried out by the armed forces that succeeded in directing successive strikes against terrorist elements and carrying out a number of qualitative operations on all strategic directions of the state.

8 members of the armed forces were killed or wounded as a result of the hostilities in the areas of operations, the statement said.

The statement added that the army seized a great quantity of light and medium weapons with a drone equipped with a camera and night vision device, in addition to a laptop, and a number of mobile phones.

It pointed out that “404 explosive devices and 4 explosive belts were discovered and destroyed on the main axes and roads, in addition to the discovery and destruction of 59 motorcycles and 52 vehicles used by the takfiri elements.”

The statement indicated that the border guards of the army, in cooperation with the military engineers, succeeded in discovering and destroying 13 tunnel openings used by terrorist elements to infiltrate into North Sinai.
