Syrian President assigns PM Arnous to form new government
DAMASCUS, Aug. 01 (YPA) – The Syrian President Bashar Al-Asad on Sunday has tasked Prime Minister Hussein Arnous with forming a new government.
According to the official Syrian news agency (SANA), President Bashar al-Asad issued Decree No. 206 for the year 2021 assigning engineer Hussein Arnous to form a new government in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Engineer Arnous, born in Idlib in 1953, graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Aleppo in 1978.
He was appointed governor of Deir ez-Zor from 2009 to 2011, governor of Quneitra in 2011, minister of public works from 2013 to 2016 and from 2016 to 2018, a member of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party since 2013, and Minister of Water Resources since 2018.
In the sixth month of 2020, he was assigned the duties of the prime minister in addition to his duties as minister of water resources.
He was also appointed Prime Minister from August 25, 2020 until August 1, 2021.
