Syria: Death toll from fire in industrial city of Aleppo rises to 5

DAMASCUS, Jul. 30 (YPA) – The death toll from the fire that erupted Thursday in the industrial city of Aleppo, in Syria, rose to five, while seven people sustained moderate and severe burns, medics reported on Friday.

Mohsen Kinani, commander of the Aleppo Fire Brigade, said that one of the wounded died in the hospital, while the bodies of four of the victims are still inside the factory that burned yesterday, adding that work is underway to retrieve their bodies from the remnants of the fire.

He confirmed that the fire “was completely extinguished, and isolation, cooling and removal of damages and waste are currently taking place.”

On Thursday, a fire broke out in a factory for the manufacture of paints and plastics containing very flammable materials in the second area of the industrial city in Sheikh Najjar area in Aleppo.
