SANAA, Jul. 24 (YPA) – The US Department of Defense said Friday that the regulations manufactured by the Chines Da Jiang Innovations (DJI) pose potential threats to US national security.
“The Defense Department’s position is that the systems produced by Da Jiang Innovations (DJI) pose potential threats to national security,” the Pentagon said in a press release.
“The current defense department policies and practices associated with the use of these systems by US government entities and forces working with US military services remain unchanged, unlike any written reports that have not been approved for release by the Department of Defense,” the statement read.
The Department of defense said the latest report indicating that some DJI drones have been approved by the US government for purchase and use by several US agencies is inaccurate, and that the release of this information was unauthorized.
The statement noted that the Department of Defense had banned the use of all commercial ready-made drones, regardless of who made them, because of cybersecurity concerns.
In addition, Congress passed legislation prohibiting US administrations and agencies from purchasing and using drones made in China because of national security concerns as well.
