BEIRUT, Aug. 07 (YPA) – The Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, Hezbollah’s political wing, in Lebanon condemned on Thursday the Lebanese Prime Minister’s adoption of US envoy Tom Barrack’s paper.
In a statement, the Bloc considered it a reversal of pledges in the ministerial statement and a fundamental contradiction of the presidential inauguration speech.
The statement also described the government’s position as “suspicious and illogical haste,” stressing that it represented a clear violation of the charter and undermines the Taif Agreement, which preserves Lebanon’s right to defend itself.
“The pathetic attempts to disarm the resistance’s weapons are a free service to the Israeli enemy and to strip Lebanon of its most important strengths in light of the continued Zionist violation of Lebanese sovereignty and the daily assassination crimes against Lebanese civilians and resistance fighters,” it added.
In this context, the bloc’s statement emphasized that a priority for the government and the ruling party was to develop a national security strategy that guarantees Lebanon’s defense of its land and people, and provides the necessary means of protection to preserve its sovereignty, independence, and the safety and dignity of its citizens.
