China says it opposes any attempt to change regime in Syria

DAMASCUS, Jul. 18 (YPA) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, during a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus on Saturday, that his country opposes any attempt to seek regime change in Syria.

The Chinese minister praised Syria’s achievements in fighting terrorism and opposing foreign interference, adding that scandalous foreign interference in Syria had failed in the past and would not succeed in the future.

“China appreciates Syria’s consistent support on issues concerning China’s core interests and major concerns,” he said.

He added that China is ready to join hands with Syria to push forward the traditional friendship and promote mutually beneficial cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
