SANAA, Jul. 17 (YPA) – Human Rights Watch (HRW) called on Saudi leaders to annul all charges, convictions, and sentences issued against women’s rights defenders for practicing their activism and peaceful expression of their views.
The organization’s deputy Middle East director, Michael Page, said that the new evidence proves the kingdom’s involvement in brutal torture against women’s rights defenders and prominent detainees.
Page considered that leaving those involved in torture without accountability helps them to escape punishment.
Page called on Saudi officials to take urgent steps to stop these crimes and hold the perpetrators to account at the highest levels.
