Presidency Office Director meets UN Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs
SANAA, Jul. 11 (YPA) – Director of the Presidency of the Presidency, the President of the Council of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Mohammed Hamid, discussed on Sunday with the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs “Ocea” in Yemen William David Grlesli, aspects of cooperation between the Council and the United Nations organizations in the field of humanity.
During the meeting, which was on video technology, the officials discussed the humanitarian situation in Yemen in the light of the aggression, siege and continuing the prevention of oil derivatives from accessing the port of Hodeidah and the effects of that catastrophe on all the lifestyles.
Hamid stressed on a keenness of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs to provide all facilities for United Nations organizations and to overcome any difficulties that may face its work.
Hamid praised the field visit made by the new Humanitarian Coordinator to the provinces to see the suffering of the citizens as a result of the aggression and the siege, and to know the actual needs.
He pointed out that the support should meet the actual needs of citizens and focus on the health, water and food, stressing the importance of the United Nations to raise the siege and allowing the vessels of oil derivatives easily to the port of Hodeidah and the opening of Sana’a International Airport.
For his part, the United Nations Resident Coordinator referred to the importance of this meeting to facilitate humanitarian action in Yemen.
Grlesli confirmed his quest to lift the siege and pressure to allow the introduction of oil derivatives. He pointed out that there was no justification for their detention.
