MOGADISHU, Jul. 11 (YPA) – At least eight people have been killed when a suicide car bomb explosion hit a government convoy in Mogadishu, Somalia’ capital.
The suicide car bomb exploded at a busy intersection in the city. The convoy included senior police official who survived the attack, the state news agency reported.
A witness at the scene said he saw eight bodies at the scene, including a woman.
Abdul Aziz Abu Musab, spokesman for al-Shabaab’s military operations claimed the responsibility for the attack.
The movement often carries out such bombings. Al-Shabaab wants to overthrow the government and impose its hardline interpretation of Islamic law.
Al-Shabaab fighters frequently carry out attacks on civilian and military targets, including busy traffic intersections, hotels and military bases.
