Saudi Arabia withdraws ministers returning to Aden

ADEN, Jul. 05 (YPA) – A number of ministers in Saudi-led coalition-backed government left Aden, days after they returned to the southern port city.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

According to the sources, a number of ministers left through Aden airport, amid the escalating crisis between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on the one hand, and Hadi and Saudi Arabia on the other.

Among the ministers who left Aden is  Electricity Minister, who had returned with a number of ministers from Riyadh, in preparation for the return of Prime Minister Moeen Abdul-Malik and the rest of the ministers, before things got worse.

Moreover,  Saudi Arabia issued a statement accusing the STC of escalation and violating the latest agreement, and the subsequent accelerated events by storming Hadi’s forces into the city of Lawdar and controlling it, the sources said.

According to the sources, the ministers’ departure from Aden came at the behest of Saudi Ambassador Mohammed al-Jaber, who is under fierce attack from pro-STC activists

Information revealed that Ambassador Al Jaber had asked Eidros Zubeidi head of the STC to leave Aden with a number of his leaders on the grounds in order to create a good atmosphere for the government’s return and implementation of the stalled Riyadh agreement.
