ABYAN, Jul. 02 (YPA) – Mohammed al-Naqib, the spokesman for the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) Militia, confirmed that al-Islah militants launched an attack on members of the “security belt forces” in Lauder city, Abyan province, southern Yemen.
In a tweet on Thursday, al-Naqib said that the “security belt” elements responded to the attack of al-Qaeda militants and forced them to retreat and withdraw from the city.
Al-Naqib added that the “Brotherhood” aims to expand the map of hotbeds of tension in Abyan and Shabwah to create a burning military reality that undermines the Riyadh Agreement;
He pointed out that its Islah and al-Qaeda elements to storm the city of Lauder carries a double and more dangerous goal.
Al-Qaeda members represent the spearhead of the Islah group, al-Naqib said,
He considered Lauder’s storming as an old battle to avenge the tribes that defeated the group in 2012, noting that the “security belt forces” and the “southern resistance” have prepared themselves to teach al-Islah and al-Qaeda a more bitter lesson.
Islah military and security forces stormed the city of Lauder, led by Abyan’s director of security, Abu Mashal al-Kazmi, to impose a pro-Islah security director, Jaafar Abdullah Saleh Haidara al-Ukami.
