SANAA, June 5 (YPA) – The World Meteorological Organization warned on Monday of a new storm heading towards the coasts of Yemen and known as “Roanu” hurricane.
The organization predicted that the hurricane would hit the coast of Socotra Island heading to the southern coasts, the Sultanate of Oman and the neighboring coasts.
It is the third consecutive hurricane in a month that hit Yemeni coasts.
Late in May, a tropical cyclone known as “Mekunu” strongly hit Socotra Island and other Yemeni eastern coastal cities.
Mekunu left dozens of dead and many others missing and more than 2600 displaced families in Socotra, as well as damage to people’s property and infrastructure in the island and in some coastal districts of other provinces.
Earlier in May, a cyclonic storm known as Sagar hit Yemeni coast and Socotra Island, bringing life-threatening floods.
