Car suicide bombing targets police headquarters in western Afghanistan

SANAA, Jul. 01 (YPA) – A suicide car bomb targeted an Afghan police headquarters in the western state of Herat on Thursday, leaving a number of people dead and wounded.

In a statement a few days ago, the top US military commander in Afghanistan said security across the country is deteriorating just weeks before the last American forces withdraw.

Gen. Scott Miller, in a rare briefing on Tuesday, said that recent gains by the Taliban are highly concerning, even if not unexpected.

He warned of launching airstrikes against Taliban if they continued their attacks to take control of new areas throughout Afghanistan.

Security in Afghanistan was deteriorating due to the rapid loss of areas across the country to the Taliban, he said.
