Islah sends military reinforcements to Abyan, STC prepares military battle in Shabwah

SHABWAH, Jun. 28 (YPA) –  The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) is preparing for a mass rally and military battle with Islah party, Yemeni branch of Muslim Brotherhood  in Shabwah province, eastern Yemen.

The head of the STC branch in Shabwah, Ahmed Ali al-Jabwani, called on the people of the southern provinces to upraise  against the Islah militants on July 7th in solidarity against the policy of repression and humiliation of citizens in the province.

He stressed that the STC’s supporters in Shabwah are continuing to confront the repression machine of Islah in various directorates, as reform movements continue in the Front of The Century of Al-Kalasi and positions near the Sheikh Salem area in Abyan province.

The sources suggested that the military situation in Abyan front could explode after the arrival of military reinforcements for Islah militants in the coastal area of Shuqra, and the stalemate that hit Riyadh consultations between the “STC” and “Hadi government”, following the events of Abadan in the directorate of Nisab Shabwah.

Earlier Monday, pro-STC gunmen launched a surprise attack targeting Hadi military checkpoints at the entrances to Shabwa’s capital, Ataq.
