Deputy PM stresses importance of re-opening Sanaa airport

SANAA, Jun. 26 (YPA) – Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs in Sanaa, Jalal Al-Ruwaishan, stressed the importance of re-opening Sanaa airport.

Al-Ruwaishan said, “Sanaa is the capital of the Republic of Yemen and its airport is the approved international airport. We have no options but to open the airport, even if the aggression continues for another 7 years.”

He addressed the coalition forces, saying: “You should know that the continued closure or opening of the airport has nothing to do with the steadfastness of the people, and to effect on the military and security situation.”

This came during his speech at an extraordinary meeting of the Ministry of Transport to announce the technical and security readiness of Sanaa Airport to receive flights.

Al-Ruwaishan explained that the growing problem with regard to Sanaa Airport is a humanitarian file and has nothing to do with the political or military situation.

He stressed that the right to travel is guaranteed to everyone, and all free people in the world must assume their responsibilities towards the crime of closing Sanaa Airport, which represents a flagrant violation of all the international laws.

In turn, the Minister of Transport confirmed the airport’s readiness to receive flights, calling on the international community and all free people in the world to pressure the coalition to open the airport.
