HRW condemns UN failure to include coalition on blacklist for violating children rights

SANAA, Jun. 22 (YPA) – Human Rights Watch strongly condemned on Tuesday the UN failure to include the Israeli entity and the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen on the list of countries violating children’s rights.

” The UN Secretary General António Guterres saved the warring parties involved in the killing and maiming of children from their predicament by his failing to include Israel, the Saudi-led Arab coalition and other violators on the list of shame,” said Jo Becker is the advocacy director of the children’s rights division at New York-based HRW.

“The Secretary-General’s repeated failure to build his list on the United Nations’ own evidence constitutes a betrayal of children and fuels impunity,” Becker added, in a letter reported by Anadolu Agency.

She went to say, “Now, he has secured his second term as Secretary-General, he must abandon this approach and make sure his list reflects the facts. The UN Security Council must insist on including all violators on the list.”
