Military moves to besiege Islah militants in Taiz reported

TAIZ, Jun.08 (YPA) – Informed local sources revealed an Emirati move to impose  siege on the  Islah militants  in Taiz province, Southwest Yemen.

The sources confirmed that the UAE-backed  military forces on the west coast of Yemen, in the past hours closed the road linking the city of Taiz and Mocka, in the district of Al Wazi’iyah.

Tariq Al-Afash forces have established new fortifications and military positions along the road between Mocha and the southern areas of Taiz countryside, which are under the  control of  Islah party militants, the sources said.

The sources explained that the UAE’s military movements through its militias, led by  “Tariq Afash and Haitham Qassem”  towards the lines of confrontations and areas under the control of the Islah, came in response to the expansion of the latter’s military militants towards the city of Mocha, after approaching the al-Barah cement factory near the city last month.

The UAE’s sudden moves towards the southern Taiz countryside in the Al-Hijriyah and al-Ma’afar areas following  angry protests in the Islah-controlled areas, demanding the dismissal of governor Nabil Shamsan, and a number of officials two weeks ago on charges of corruption.

On Sunday, a military battalion of the so-called “22 meka brigade” loyal to Islah party imposed control over the offices of the “finance, accounting unit, and taxes” and prevented staff from entering them.
