US coalition diplomatic center targeted in Baghdad with missile

BAGHDAD, Jun.06 (YPA) – A rocket landed early Sunday near the diplomatic support center in Baghdad, causing no material damage or casualties, Al-Mayadeen TV reported reported.

The attack targeted the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center (BDSC) in late Saturday, tweeted Col. Wayne Marotto, spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), the codename for the US-led military campaign in Iraq.

He said the attack was under investigation, adding that any attack on the international coalition “undermines the authority of Iraqi institutions and undermines Iraq’s sovereignty.”

Sirens sounded inside Victoria’s base, which houses US soldiers near Baghdad International Airport, and explosions were reportedly heard at Ain al-Assad base in Anbar, which includes US military forces.

The Ain al-Assad base was attacked by a number of rockets weeks ago, but there were no casualties.
